The Art of Candle Care
Maximize the burn quality, fragrance release, and lifespan of your hand-poured SATTVA soy wax candles.
The All-Important First Burn
On your candle's first lighting, allow the liquid wax pool to reach the edge of the glass container (approx 2–3 hours). Soy wax has a 'melt memory'; creating a full edge-to-edge pool prevents tunneling for the lifespan of the candle.
Always Trim Your Wick to 1/4 Inch
Before every single burn, trim your cotton or wooden wick to 1/4 inch (6mm). A shorter wick controls flame height, prevents black soot mushrooming, and extends overall candle burn time by up to 25%.
Limit Burn Duration to 4 Hours
Never burn your candle for more than 4 consecutive hours. Extended burns cause the glass container to overheat and melt fragrance oil too rapidly.
Safe Placement & Environment
Keep burning candles away from drafts, ceiling fans, curtains, pets, and children. Place glass jars on heat-resistant surfaces.
How to Fix Candle Tunneling
If your candle has formed a deep tunnel down the center: wrap aluminum foil around the top edge of the glass jar like a dome, leaving a small opening over the flame. Burn for 1–2 hours. The trapped heat will melt the hard wax ring evenly!
